Control4 Delivers OS 3

May 23, 2019 –  Control4 announced today the release of the new major version of their OS.   OS 3 will be available for download on May 28, but there are some *major* differences in the look and function of the interface.   Customers interested in upgrading should call us to schedule a demo of the system highlighting the new features as well as a few of the limitations.  Some hardware and drivers are not compatible with OS3 (like the HC-250 controller).   The On Screen Display (OSD) is also much different and currently has some limitations which need to be discussed before upgrade.  Some highlights include:

NEW ACTIVE MEDIA BAR

• Placed at the top, large and easy to see
• Larger artwork
• Larger buttons
• Volume slider
• Touch either side of slider for fine volume control
• Off button located away from other buttons
• Fast media sharing

NEW SESSIONS SCREEN

• See all media sessions playing in house
• See how many rooms are joined to each session
• See which rooms are joined
• Volume slider for individual rooms and session
• Add and remove rooms from sessions

NEW MEDIA SHARING MENU

• Shows all rooms that can join session
• See all rooms or only those playing media
• Session and room slider volume controls
• Media starts as soon as a room is selected

NEW NOW PLAYING SCREEN

• Larger album art
• View track details (file format and quality)
• High-res and MQA file indicator
• Volume slider

NEW TRANSPORT CONTROL SCREEN

• Gesture pad controls for video devices
• Easy access to Sessions menu to join rooms
• Controls are optimized for all screen sizes

NEW LIGHTING CONTROLS

• Scene editing on apps
• Each lighting UI element is redesigned
• Dimmer sliders for granular adjustment
• Touch the icon on the right side to toggle
• Toggle control to Composer’s setting
• Customers can show/hide scene ramping buttons

LIGHTING FILTER BAR

• See only the lights or scenes in the room
• See all lights or scenes in the home
• Each room is divided with a pinned header
• Filter toggles between all lights/scenes or only those left on

SECURITY SYSTEM

• See armed state from the Room screen
• See warning pop-ups in the UI (garage door is open)
• Homeowner can act on pop-up (close the garage door)
• Filter bar to quickly switch the view to all or open zones

SMART DOOR LOCKS

• Manage users and PINs in the UI
• Create a user
• Assign a PIN and a schedule
• Copy users and codes to other locks
• Filter bar to quickly view all or only unlocked doors
